If you’ve ever wondered who’s behind the science at For Youth — meet Dr Vincenzo Sorrentino.
Vincenzo isn’t just a scientist. He’s one of the world’s leading researchers in NAD+ biology, with multiple patents under his name and a deep curiosity about what makes us age — and how we can slow that process down. His work is at the cutting edge of ageing science, but his mission is simple: to help more people live longer, healthier lives.
Vincenzo’s path started in Naples, Italy, where he grew up with a love for biology and food — two things that would shape his life. He went on to complete his PhD cum laude at the University of Amsterdam, where he explored how the body controls cholesterol through the proteasome system. That kicked off a decade-long journey through some of the world’s top labs.
In Switzerland, he joined Professor Johan Auwerx’s lab at EPFL, where he focused on mitochondria, NAD+ metabolism, and neurodegeneration. He later led research teams at the Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences, where he studied how nutrition and supplements could support mitochondrial health and slow muscle ageing.
Today, Vincenzo is based in Singapore, where he’s an Assistant Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He’s part of the Healthy Longevity Translational Research Programme — a bold initiative to address Singapore’s rapidly ageing population. He’s also an adjunct professor at Amsterdam UMC, and a member of the EMBO Global Investigator Network, which recognises the most promising young scientists in the world.
At For Youth, Vincenzo helps guide our product strategy — from reviewing the latest research to advising on formulations that actually work. He’s especially focused on the mitochondria–NAD+–proteostasis axis: how our cells generate energy, maintain balance, and cope with stress as we age.
One of his most exciting recent discoveries? That trigonelline , a compound found in coffee and fenugreek, is a novel NAD+ precursor that can support muscle health in ageing. His lab showed that it helps maintain mitochondrial activity and improves physical function — potentially offering a new natural way to boost NAD+ without relying solely on traditional precursors.
This kind of research is what makes Vincenzo such a critical part of our team. He’s not just interpreting science — he’s making it.
Vincenzo played a central role in formulating The Repair, For Youth’s flagship NAD+ booster. Drawing on his deep expertise in NAD+ metabolism, he designed the product to raise and maintain cellular NAD+ levels through multiple complementary pathways. It combines NMN , a direct NAD+ precursor, with L-tryptophan , an amino acid that boosts NAD+ through the de novo pathway — giving the body more than one route to replenish its stores. To sustain those elevated levels, he added apigenin , a natural flavonoid that inhibits CD38, an enzyme known to break down NAD+. The result? A smart, layered approach to NAD+ restoration that reflects the latest science — not just a trend.
Outside the lab, Vincenzo brings his research into everyday life. He’s deeply committed to the same principles he studies: regular movement, a Mediterranean-style diet, time-restricted eating, and smart supplementation to support his cellular health.
He’s also a passionate advocate for balance. “Longevity isn’t about extremes,” he says. “It’s about consistency — small habits that support your body, your brain, and your energy over the long term.”
When he’s not in the lab, you’ll find him in nature, walking his dog, cycling, or cooking meals that reflect his southern Italian roots. Longevity, for him, isn’t just a professional pursuit — it’s a way of life.
At For Youth, we don’t just want to sell supplements. We want to build products that genuinely support healthy ageing — grounded in science, not hype. That’s why we work with researchers like Vincenzo. His insights help us go deeper, ask better questions, and create formulations that are truly built to last.
If you’ve ever tried one of our NAD+ products — like The Repair or The Base — you’ve already experienced a piece of Vincenzo’s work. And we’re just getting started.
